How to Generate a Secure Password

A strong password is your first line of defense against unauthorized access. The Secure Password Generator by iMakeSimple creates truly random passwords using your device's built-in cryptographic random number generator, so the result is never predictable or reused.

Using the Generator:

  • Choose a Length: Drag the slider to set a password between 6 and 40 characters. Longer passwords are generally more secure.
  • Pick Character Types: Toggle uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters on or off to match the requirements of the site you are using.
  • Avoid Confusion: Enable "Exclude confusing characters" to remove look-alike characters such as O, 0, I, l, and 1 when you need to read or type the password manually.
  • Copy & Use: Click the copy button to save the generated password to your clipboard, then paste it wherever you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are my passwords stored or sent anywhere?

No. Passwords are generated entirely in your browser and are never transmitted, logged, or saved to any server. Once you refresh or navigate away, the generated password is gone.

How random is the generated password?

Instead of a predictable pseudo-random function, this tool uses your device's cryptographically secure random number generator, making the passwords suitable for protecting real accounts.

What makes a password strong?

A strong password is long and uses a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. We recommend at least 12–16 characters for important accounts, and a unique password for every service.
